This system is used to determine the content of carbon black (soot) in polyolefin compositions (polyethylene, polypropylene, and polybutylene plastics). Carbon black is incorporated to effectively absorb ultraviolet radiation, which otherwise causes material degradation, thereby extending the service life of the material and finished products. Manufacturers of PE and PP pipes commonly utilize carbon black as a filler, and its content must be controlled during both raw material production and final product manufacturing.
Features
Furnace Material: Vacuum-formed ceramic fiber made of aluminum oxide is employed, which does not crumble at elevated temperatures and features low thermal capacity, enabling energy savings of more than 50%.
Heating Elements: High-temperature heating wires made of iron, chromium, and aluminum (HRE alloy) are utilized, providing a rapid heating rate with an adjustable range of 1 to 25 °C/min.
Temperature Control Accuracy: The device offers high-precision temperature control with minimal fluctuation, along with temperature compensation and correction functions, achieving an accuracy of ±1 °C.
Intelligent Control System: Equipped with an intelligent programmable PID controller, which allows for the setting of heating curves with up to 30 programmable segments.
Integrated Design: The furnace lid is openable, facilitating convenient sample placement and enabling rapid cooling, thereby enhancing operational usability.
Safety: All electronic components are manufactured by Delixi and incorporate leakage current protection, ensuring safe and reliable operation.
Overheating Alarm: The unit emits an audible alarm and automatically initiates protective measures in the event of overheating during operation, providing enhanced safety.
Flange: A 304 stainless steel flange with an extrusion seal is adopted. The flange is equipped with inlet and outlet ports on both sides, controlled by precision stainless steel needle valves for gas supply and discharge.
Flow Meter: The equipment control panel is fitted with a float-type flow meter with a range of 60 to 600 mL/min, allowing for manual adjustment of nitrogen supply. (A flow meter with a range of 0 to 2000 mL/min is available as an option.)

FAQ
Q1: What is the basic principle of carbon black content testing?
A: The test is carried out in two steps: first, pyrolysis of the specimen at approximately 550°C in a nitrogen atmosphere to volatilize and decompose the polymer matrix; then, calcination in air at 900°C to completely combust the carbon black. The carbon black content is calculated from the difference in mass before and after calcination.
Q2: Can the Carbon Black Content Tester perform tests automatically?
A: Yes, our Carbon Black Content Tester is equipped with programmable functions and can perform tests automatically.
Q3: What are the advantages of the Carbon Black Content Tester?
A:Openable lid design: The furnace lid can be opened, facilitating convenient sample placement and enabling rapid cooling.7-inch touchscreen control: User-friendly interface for easy operation.
Q4: In addition to the tube furnace, what other instruments are required for carbon black content testing?A: The following additional instruments are required:
Analytical balance: 0.1 mg accuracy.
Quartz boat: Used to hold the specimen.
Desiccator: Used for cooling and storing specimens.
